My husband, Chad, and I have a pretty great relationship. But as good as it may be, we still argue from time to time. We’re pretty different but we do have several personality traits that are VERY much the same, and those are usually the traits that butt heads.
Neither one of us likes to be wrong. We are both pretty chill until we aren’t, which is usually because one of us (him) says something that is just not correct, then the other (me, cause I’m always right ;)) has to correct them… and tell the other how wrong they are. This conversation is usually a loud one. Lol!
Luckily for us, we don’t disagree on many things!
There have been some times in the past when we had arguments over the same things… over, and over again. When we do it’s exhausting and feels like we’re just circling around the same issues all the time. Early into parenthood, we had one of those, “agree to disagree,” circling arguments. We were 100% in disagreement, and neither one of us was willing to budge off of our belief to find common ground.
It became clear that we just were not going to find common ground, but something needed to change! It was in that season that I began to shut up, and just pray for Chad. I prayed a lot about the situation, but more so, I prayed for Chad, period.
Funny things happen when we pray for someone else, our hearts start to change toward them. In fact, James 5:16 says to pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

When I prayed for my husband I changed, he changed, and our situation began to become less of an issue. The Lord did the work in each of our hearts that neither one of us could have ever done on our own.
Now praying for my husband is just a part of my daily prayer time. There are several things that I pray every day for Chad, no matter what. As seasons of life change, I pray for other things also, but these few things never leave my prayers.
Here is a list along with scriptures that you can also use in your prayer time for your husband, so you can be intentional and consistent.
Pray for:
- Strength – Colossians 1:9-11
- Wisdom – James 1:6-5
- Peace – Philippeans 4:5-7, Romans 15:13
- Rest – Psalm 91:1-2
- Coverage – Psalm 91:4
- Protection – Psalm 91:9-16, Proverbs 2:6-8
As a Husband & Father:
- Husband – Ephesians 5:25-28
- Father – Ephesians 6:4
At Work:
- Content – Proverbs 16:3
- Strength – 1 Chronicles 28:20
- Favor – Psalm 90:17
- Provision – 2 Corinthians 9:8-9

My prayer is that as you speak and pray these things over your husband that you will do it in love and from a pure heart, and that it will transform your home, and marriage.
There are great days ahead, sister. Be strong and courageous, the Lord is with you.

Love this…I SO NEEDED THIS…to prepare my son.
